Upcoming November Events Highlight Oklahoma Music Industry Resources and Workforce

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) will participate in two events this month that support the state’s music industry by highlighting resources and showcasing the talents of our local music professionals.

Oklahoma Recording Academy Membership Webinar
On November 5 at 2 p.m., the Recording Academy Texas Chapter and the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture (Tulsa FMAC) will host a Member Outreach Information Webinar. Featuring Recording Academy Senior Membership Manager Amanda Garcia Davenport and Texas Chapter Executive Director Christee Albino, this How to Join presentation will provide music professionals information on The Academy, including membership, benefits, processes, requirements and more. Both OF+MO and the Oklahoma City Film & Creative Industries are proud to support the Recording Academy and Tulsa FMAC in their continued outreach efforts.

“Our relationship with the Recording Academy is invaluable to the music community of Tulsa and Oklahoma,” said Tulsa FMAC Executive Director Meg Gould. “After hosting the Texas chapter’s board meeting, we’re thrilled to co-host another event with this prestigious organization and help our musicians and artists continue to learn the benefits of the Recording Academy and how to become a member.”

“Oklahoma has produced incredible music talent for generations and the Recording Academy is the largest and most impactful organization representing and honoring creators in the music field. It is only fitting that Oklahoma should be a flagship of participation and engagement between our music makers and the Academy,” said Recording Academy Trustee Taylor Hanson. “I am thrilled to have been a Recording Academy member for over 25 years, and now as a member of the elected leadership of our chapter, with the great work of my colleagues in the Recording Academy and music makers in Oklahoma, I’m hopeful we will see the growing membership in the state truly reflect the many vital artists who call Oklahoma home.”

Another 48 Hours Music Festival
Additionally, OF+MO is proud to be a sponsor of Another 48 Hours, a music festival taking place on Saturday, November 9, at The Plaza in downtown Atoka, Okla. This festival honors the legendary 48 Hours in Atoka Music Festival, which originally took place in 1975 and welcomed iconic music acts such as Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, David Allan Coe and more for what many consider to be the beginning of the Outlaw Country movement. Nearing the centennial celebration of this event, Another 48 Hours in Atoka will feature a variety of regional and local musical acts, including Heartsill Entertainment, Greg Guymon & Lanny Guest, Bryce Dicus, Jordan Rainer, Dustin Perkins, Tellico Two Band and Bo Phillips Band with performances starting at 12 p.m.

“From all of us on the 48 Hours Music Coalition, we hope you’ll join us to celebrate the 49th Anniversary of Atoka’s lil’ ole Outlaw Country music festival,” said Coalition President Garett Smith. “We’re thrilled to do it again and showcase both our unique community and the amazingly talented musicians joining us this year.”

Both the Recording Academy Webinar and Another 48 Hours in Atoka are FREE to attend.
