Tulsa American Film Festival Celebrates Fifth Year

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning sponsor of the Tulsa American Film Festival (TAFF) taking place October 9-13, 2019, in Tulsa’s historic Kendall Whittier District. Now in its fifth year, TAFF will celebrate and recognize independent cinema with special focuses on Latino American, Native American and Oklahoma-based filmmakers. Additionally, the festival will feature regionally-relevant classic films that will be presented alongside a number of panels, discussions, industry-related events and parties throughout the five-day festival.

As a sponsor, OF+MO will present “Scoring Panel – Unveiling the Mystique of a Film Score”, a discussion of music in film featuring University of Tulsa professor Dr. Joseph Rivers and Tulsa-born composer Paul Cristo. This event is free and open to the public and will take place at the historic Circle Cinema on Friday, October 11, at 6:00 p.m. Additionally, OF+MO will also present two of the festival’s Saturday events, including the Oklahoma Student Short Film Program Block and the TAFF Festival Awards and After Party.

“We’re excited to collaborate with TAFF in celebration of their fifth anniversary,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We look forward to honoring the work of our state’s rising filmmakers as well as provide a platform to highlight the artistry and impact of film scoring as our state has been able to provide musicians and facilities for the composition of several scores for recent projects that have filmed in Oklahoma.”
