The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning sponsor of four upcoming Oklahoma music festivals, the ACM@UCO Metro Music Fest, the Oklahoma Songwriters Festival, the Bob Childers’ Gypsy Café and Norman Music Festival.
The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) will host the ninth annual Metro Music Fest Friday, April 6. Metro Music Fest is free and open to the public and features live music on multiple stages around Bricktown in Oklahoma City, including Oklahoma artists Cutter Elliot, Original Flow & The Fervent Route, Rozlyn Zora and more. Internationally renowned acts Mavis Staples and Prince’s backing band The Revolution will headline.
The Oklahoma Songwriters Festival will return to Oklahoma City for its third annual event Saturday, April 14, at the Tower Theatre. Featuring songwriters from Nashville and Oklahoma, this event will include a free daytime Songwriter Camp from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and a ticketed Songwriter Showcase at 7:00 p.m. with a VIP option available. Using a format frequently used in Nashville, this “writer round” presentation will allow the audience the opportunity to hear high-quality, original songs and listen as their creators tell the stories of how they were formed. Local Oklahoma artists will open the show.
The eleventh annual Norman Music Festival (NMF) will take place along Main Street in Norman April 26-28. NMF is free and open to the public and features hundreds of performances on multiple stages, including Oklahoma acts Hosty, Sugar Free Allstars, Lincka and more. Tune-yards, Parquet Courts and Japanese Breakfast will headline.
The seventh annual Bob Childers Gypsy Café will bring together over 50 songwriters in celebration of the life of Bob Childers and his legacy of Red Dirt Music on Wednesday, May 2, in Stillwater. Pairing songwriters for acoustic song-swap style sets taking place across three venues throughout the afternoon and evening, this event culminates with an all-artist finale on the main stage at Eskimo Joe’s around 11:00 p.m. The winner of the first annual Jimmy LaFave Songwriting Contest will also perform.
