“The Adventures of Rufus the Fantastic Pet” Begins Production in Oklahoma

The Adventures of Rufus Ltd, Ace Entertainment Films, Inc. and Boiling Point Media, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), are proud to announce the start of production on the feature film “The Adventures of Rufus the Fantastic Pet”. The film is utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO, and started principal photography May 6, 2019, with filming scheduled for multiple locations around the state.

Starring Kyler Charles Beck (“The Adventures of Jurassic Pet”), Cory Jordan Phillips (“Doctor Who: The Soldier Stories”) and Leah N.H. Philpott (“American Honey”) with an entirely Oklahoma-based crew, “The Adventures of Rufus the Fantastic Pet” marks the fifth feature film from Oklahoma’s own Director, Ryan Bellgardt.

“As an Oklahoma native, it’s an honor for me to be creating another feature film in my home state as well as introducing my great state to creators from across the globe,” said Bellgardt.

This family, adventure-fantasy movie tells the story of teenagers Scott and Emily, who suddenly discover Rufus, a mysterious creature, and Abbott, a wizard. Together, with the help of an ancient spell book, they must gather ingredients to make a secret dust to save the magical world of Rufus and Abbott before a group of villainous servants with mysterious powers of their own capture the spell book for themselves. This unique mixture of “Harry Potter” meets “Fantastic Beasts” carries universal themes of friendship, heroism and environment.

The film has already secured pre-sales in North America, UK/Ireland and France, and marks the second picture collaboration between ACE Entertainment Inc. and Boiling Point Media after last year’s “The Adventures of Jurassic Pet”.

“Ryan and the amazing team of Boiling Point Media continue to play an important role in elevating Oklahoma’s film industry on both a local and international level,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “Through the use of the state’s film incentive, the company’s production rate is increasing, which is simultaneously providing sustained jobs with local career technology schools. We are so proud to see filmmakers and businesses like Ryan and Boiling Point Media anchor themselves in Oklahoma, which is diversifying our state’s workforce and growing small businesses.”
