“Stillwater” to Begin Filming in Oklahoma

Slightly Distorted Productions, LLC, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), is pleased to announce production of the upcoming feature film “Stillwater” to be filmed entirely in Oklahoma. The production will utilize the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO and commence principal photography on May 14, 2016, in Stillwater.

“Stillwater” revolves around the story of a rookie cop in the small town of Stillwater, Oklahoma, who is thrown into a firestorm of crime and deception as she hunts down a killer trying to murder her fellow officer. The film is co-written by Zach Ward who famously portrayed bully Scut Farkus in the holiday film classic “A Christmas Story”.

Directed by James Cullen Bressack (“Pernicious”, “Blood Lake”), “Stillwater” marks his 13th directed feature film. Bressack is no stranger to Oklahoma having won Best Picture and Best Director four years running at Oklahoma City’s renowned horror film festival, The Underground Monster Carnival. In addition to the state’s rebate program, Oklahoma’s diverse locations and film-friendly crew base have made a positive impact on Bressack. “The beautiful scenery and talented crew have made it easy to adapt,” said Bressack. “Oklahoma truly has a perfectly solid film base. I am very excited to film here.”

Producer Lauren Elizabeth Hood adds, “We have met some amazing people out here in Stillwater already, and we are so very excited to go on this journey with everyone.” Hood is a member of the Producers Guild of America who has line produced over 15 feature films.

“We are excited to welcome the production of ‘Stillwater’ to Oklahoma,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “It’s vitally important that stories set in Oklahoma are told in our state. Not only does this corroborate a film’s authenticity, but the business of having film production in Oklahoma provides opportunities for our filmmakers, crew, businesses, and location owners.”

The production is currently holding an open call for cast and crew positions. More details are available on the jobs section of our website.
