“Sleeping in Plastic” Completes Filming in Oklahoma

Red Entertainment, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), is pleased to announce the completion of principal photography in Oklahoma on the feature film “Sleeping in Plastic”.

Written and directed by award-winning photographer and filmmaker Van Ditthavong, “Sleeping in Plastic” is a southern gothic story set in a rural Texas town that is awakened when a high school wrestler gets entangled with a drifter and her psychopathic lover. Lives intertwine and spiral violently out of control when he becomes her escort driver and risks everything to save her. The film stars Alex MacNicoll (Amazon’s “Transparent”), Addison Timlin (Showtime’s “Californication”), Nick Chinlund (“Training Day”) and Dash Mihok (Showtime’s “Ray Donovan”). The film is being produced by Red Sanders and Derek D. Brown of Red Entertainment along with Ditthavong.

“We’re proud to bring ‘Sleeping in Plastic’ to life under the helm of Van Ditthavong,”said Sanders. “We were immediately hooked by Van’s fresh, compelling aesthetic, and even more intrigued upon learning that he was inspired to write the script as a photographer for Texas Monthly visiting small Texas towns on assignment. Along with our talented cast, we’re excited to see the journey he will take the audience on.”

The film, which is utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO, began principal photography on October 18, 2017, in Harrah, Oklahoma. Additional photography occurred in the surrounding region with the production completing filming late last week.

“Oklahoma’s transformative landscapes have allowed the state to mirror a multitude of diverse locations, and we’re happy to set the scene for Red Entertainment’s newest feature film,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “The pairing of our strong incentive program and welcoming locations positively benefit productions such as ‘Sleeping in Plastic’, and it is our hope this is the first of more to come.”
