Oklahoma Music to be Featured at AmericanaFest in Nashville

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) and Studio Oklahoma are proud to partner with the Americana Music Association at the 18th annual Americana Music Festival & Conference (AmericanaFest) in Nashville, Tennessee, September 12-17, 2017.

AmericanaFest is an annual event that gathers thousands of artists, fans and industry professionals from all over the world. The 2017 festival will feature seminars, discussion panels and networking events in conjunction with more than 230 live performances at almost 40 of Nashville’s most prominent venues over the course of six days.

The Americana Honors & Awards Show, the festival’s marquee event, takes place at the historic Ryman Auditorium on Wednesday, September 13. The nationally televised show will feature performances by genre-leading talent including Billy Bragg, Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm, Iris DeMent, Jason Isbell, The Lumineers, Van Morrison, Graham Nash, Margo Price, John Prine and an all-star house band led by Buddy Miller.

For the second year in a row, Studio Oklahoma, a collective of Oklahoma industry partners, will participate in several Oklahoma-centric events throughout the week. Tava Maloy Sofsky, OF+MO Director, will serve as a panel member for the discussion “Working For You: Regional Music Offices” on Friday, September 15. Sofsky joins several colleagues from music-focused government agencies to discuss how agencies like OF+MO promote and increase opportunities for musicians and artists throughout their communities.

In addition, OF+MO and Studio Oklahoma will host “The Okie Roundup”, a private event open to conference registrants, wristband holders and private guests on Friday, September 15, at InDo Nashville with featured performances by renowned Oklahoma artists Carter Sampson, Kaitlin Butts and Travis Linville. This event will welcome Nashville music industry delegates and music fans, including those with Oklahoma ties, to network with guests as OF+MO showcases Oklahoma’s remarkable sound and allow attendees the opportunity to discover why Oklahoma is a central hub for music.

“When opportunities present themselves like going to Nashville with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office to meet like-minded fellow artists and companies, we’re all in!” says Studio Oklahoma partner Craig Huddleston of Diffinity, an Oklahoma City-based creative brand development and marketing firm,
“The true value is meeting with people face to face and AmericanaFest offers an opportunity for real interaction. Nothing will ever replace a handshake.”

“On behalf of OF+MO and Studio Oklahoma, I would like to thank all of the community partners for their support in making ‘The Okie Roundup’ possible, including Diffinity, Dunlap Codding, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the Garneu-Goulden Family Fund, Paramount on Film Row, The Edge Outfitters, Rhythm and Routes, ACM@UCO and Horton Records,” says OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We are thrilled to join forces with these Oklahoma organizations to create a presence in Nashville and showcase Oklahoma’s talent and unique sound.”
