Oklahoma Film + Music Office to Highlight Cultural Impact of Entertainment Industry and Local Business Opportunities at Upcoming Events

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) will be participating in a number of events next week that will highlight both the global and local impact of the state’s film, television and music industries.

Cultural Impact of Oklahoma’s Entertainment Industry

Join OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton, who will be featured alongside fellow state and education leaders, for a thoughtful conversation on the Cultural Impact of Oklahoma’s Entertainment Industry on Tuesday, September 24, 9-11 a.m. at Oklahoma Contemporary in Oklahoma City. Moderated by Entertainment Executive/Actress/Producer Rachel Cannon, this event will also feature Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell, Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Executive Director Shelley Zumwalt and Oklahoma City Community College President Dr. Mautra Staley Jones. This event is FREE and open to the public.

“Thrilled to present this conversation with state leadership and education partners highlighting the cultural impact of the entertainment industry,” said Cannon. “We will discuss its rich history, the incredible impact it’s had recently and where we are headed next.”

Small Business Support of Film and Music in Oklahoma

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Oklahoma District Office will host a webinar featuring OF+MO who will lead a discussion on Small Business Support of Film and Music in Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 24, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Open to local small business owners and community leaders, this webinar will highlight the many opportunities that the film and music industries can provide to small businesses in Oklahoma, as well as related OF+MO resources for support services, locations and statewide communities. Special guests for this webinar include SMA Economic Development Specialist Cindi Carter, OF+MO Outreach + Production Manager Yousef Kazemi, Executive Director of the Chickasha Economic Development Council Jim Cowan and Visit Bartlesville Executive Director Maria Swindell Gus.

“This workshop is designed to make sure small businesses benefit from the growing film industry in Oklahoma,” Oklahoma SBA District Director Fernanda Pedraza-Schmitt. “The Oklahoma film industry is responsible for more than seven thousand jobs annually and our small business community is ready to play a part in this growing market.”
