Oklahoma Film + Music Office Partners with OU’s Resonance Series to Bring Grammy-Winning Musicians to Norman

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning partner of The Resonance Series presented by the University of Oklahoma (OU) Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts’ School of Music. With events occurring on campus and throughout the City of Norman September 10-11, this season’s Resonance Series will feature the internationally renowned, Grammy award-winning musicians of the all-female supergroup the Super Sonic Shorties.

“The University of Oklahoma’s Resonance Series is extremely grateful for their deep and treasured partnership with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office, who has supported the series and helped create opportunities for local, national and international musicians coming to Oklahoma since its inception,” said Eric Walschap, OU Adjunct Professor of Music and Arts Management and Resonance Series Coordinator. “This semester we are excited to have eight of the world’s best female musicians come together as the Super Sonic Shorties who will participate in nearly 15 free and public events spread across the City of Norman, including multiple libraries, schools and music studios.”

Led by Nikki Glaspie, who served as Beyoncé’s drummer for six years, the Super Sonic Shorties are an eight-piece, all-female band made up of some of the most successful Grammy Award-winning musicians who either currently or have previously supported pop stars including Kanye West, Lizzo, Silk Sonic, Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, The Rolling Stones, Alicia Keys, The Jacksons, Destiny’s Child, Dave Matthews, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock and many others.

“OU’s Resonance Series has quickly established itself as one of the most informative, inspiring and valuable music education events in the state,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “Whether you’re a music student, industry professional or enthusiast, the Resonance Series has something for everyone, and we applaud the organizers of this event for their incredible growth and investment in providing these accessible opportunities for the music industry in Oklahoma.”

Since the Resonance Series first began in 2020, the program has welcomed over 70 professional, award-winning musicians to Norman benefitting both OU students and the general public with educational panels, classes, mentorship opportunities, live performances and much more. This season’s Resonance Series events featuring the Super Sonic Shorties are free for OU students and the general public to attend first come, first served.
