Oklahoma Film + Music Office Launches Music Friendly Community Pilot Program

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is thrilled to debut their Oklahoma Music Friendly Community Program with a pilot launch on Thursday, November 14 at Reba’s Place in Atoka, Okla.

This special event will offer a preview of the Oklahoma Music Friendly Community Program, an educational initiative and certification program with a mission to empower communities to consistently activate music as a viable industry to attract, retain and recruit business development, workforce and economic opportunities.

The pilot launch will feature a panel discussion, Amplified: How Music Drives Economic Impact, Development & Creative Culture in Communities, which will detail the pivotal role live music has on Oklahoma’s statewide communities. Panelists include OF+MO Film and Music Production Specialist Jenn Easley-Maynord; City of McAlester Tourism Director Billy Sumner; Reba’s Place Restaurant Manager Garrett Smith; Business Owners and Professional Music Artists Shane Henry & Maggie McClure of The Imaginaries; with OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton serving as moderator. A networking reception featuring live music from The Imaginaries will follow the panel.

Geared toward city leaders across the state, the November event follows a lengthy development process on behalf of OF+MO. “This program has been in the works for a while as we’ve been meeting with music artists, business owners and community leaders throughout Oklahoma,” said Stanton. “We’ve had a lot of enthusiasm around this type of music initiative, and we hope to serve communities and music professionals alike through this evolving Music Friendly Community Program. We are also thankful for our partners at Reba’s Place, The City of McAlester and The Imaginaries who helps this event come together.”
