Oklahoma Film + Music Office Closes Out 2017 Networking + Mentoring Series with Music Event

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) will wrap up the second year of their Networking + Mentoring Series with “Hear + Now: Making Music in Oklahoma” on Tuesday, October 17. This series provides a dynamic networking opportunity for professionals, students and enthusiasts involved in the film and music industries.

Continuing the tradition of featuring renowned guests who provide insight and expertise related to topics within their specific field, this event’s panelists offer a unique perspective as they speak about music industry resources available locally. Ryan LaCroix (KOSU/The Spy), Katie Dale (Red Dirt Relief Fund/Bob Childers Gypsy Café), Elizabeth Issac (Dunlap Codding) and moderator Nathan Poppe (The Oklahoman) are undoubtedly notable names in Oklahoma’s flourishing music industry, and will weigh in on how artists can market themselves to local news outlets, radio stations and music festivals as well as protect their original work.

“Hear + Now: Making Music in Oklahoma” will take place on Tuesday, October 17, at Okay Yeah Co., located at 705 West Sheridan on Historic Film Row in Oklahoma City, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a networking mixer featuring light snacks and beverages and a performance by Tulsa-based singer/songwriters Desi and Cody, followed by a seated panel discussion at 5:45 p.m. A Q&A will follow along with a breakout session where attendees will be able to ask questions to the panelists directly in a small-group setting. After the conclusion of the event, Okay Yeah Co. will host a live performance by regional act Dawson Hollow.

Nathan Poppe, Entertainment Writer for The Oklahoman, LOOKatOKC Editor and panel moderator notes, “I’m looking forward to moderating this panel because any conversation about connecting talented Oklahoma artists with opportunities is one I’m interested in having. The easier it is for dedicated musicians to connect the dots, the more they win. Simple as that.”

This event is brought to you by the Oklahoma Film + Music Office and Studio Oklahoma partners including Okay Yeah Co., Constellation Brands, Anthem Brewing Company and GigPak, who will provide a premiere giveaway of an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) consisting of a high-end, five-camera stage music video, a multi-track audio recording, still photography and a behind-the-scenes interview, valued at $2,850. The Oklahoma Songwriter’s Festival, Bob Childers’ Gypsy Café and The Jones Assembly will also provide ticket giveaways. Attendance is free.
