The Oklahoma Film and Music Office (OF+MO), a division of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, is proud to be a returning partner of the 2024 Circle Cinema Film Festival taking place in Tulsa July 11-15 showcasing films made by, in or for Oklahomans.
OF+MO will participate in a free public discussion on “The State of the Oklahoma Film Industry” to be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, featuring leaders in the state’s film industry, including Meg Gould, director of the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts and Culture, among industry members and festival attendees. A reception with light food and beverage will precede the discussion beginning at 5 p.m.
“We’re excited to partner with Circle Cinema Film Festival on what promises to be a robust year of screenings, panels and events that highlight Oklahoma’s multi-faceted filmmakers and our incredible local industry to both national and homegrown audiences,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton.
Celebrating the 96th year of Tulsa’s renowned Circle Cinema, this year’s festival received a record-breaking number of submissions among its feature, documentary and short film categories. Among this year’s programming, highlights include an appearance by Oscar-nominated actress Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) who will serve as a panelist in a discussion following the presentation of the Blackfoot documentary “Bring Them Home,” which she helped produce/narrate as well as attending filmmaker John Gulager (“Piranha 3DD”), who will celebrate the festival’s world premiere of his latest comedic horror film, “Seven Cemeteries,” an Oklahoma production, which utilized the state’s film incentive.
Additionally, two new medallions will be revealed and dedicated on the Circle’s Walk of Fame honoring Oklahoma actress Samantha Isler (“Molly’s Game,” “Breakup Season”) and Tony-nominated actor/playwright Joe Sears (“Greater Tuna,” “A Tuna Christmas”).
“A highlight of our annual programming at the Circle Cinema Film Festival is featuring both our homegrown filmmakers and productions with uniquely Oklahoma connections,” said Circle Cinema Film Festival Director Kerry Wiens. “This year’s festival is particularly special in that there is so much more for audiences to love! We’ve been able to expand our programming to not only welcome incredible talent like Lily Gladstone and Tulsa’s own Samantha Isler to Circle Cinema, but to also include new film programming blocks such as Oklahoma Documentaries and Oklahoma Native Documentaries, which will further champion the exemplary work of our state’s film industry and all those who are featured selections at this year’s Circle Cinema Film Festival.”
