The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a sponsor of the 2nd annual Twister Alley International Film Festival taking place in Woodward, Oklahoma from Thursday, May 5, to Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the historic Woodward Arts Theatre.
Run by filmmakers for filmmakers, Twister Alley is a unique film festival which brings a selection of the year’s best independent films from across the globe back to Oklahoma creating a unique, connected experience between filmmakers and film enthusiasts. This year’s festival features new additions for attendees to enjoy including a special block of programming for the Oklahoma Kid Flix Film Competition.
The Oklahoma Kid Flix Film Competition is open to all Oklahoma elementary, junior high and high school students who are invited to submit their short films to be considered for festival selection. Submissions can be of any genre and must be 7 minutes or less. All films selected for the festival will screen Thursday, May 5, 2016, and students will be invited to attend the festival and watch their film premiere on the big screen. Awards will be given to the best films as voted upon by the festival’s jury committee.
“We look forward to bringing the best indie films from all over the world to Oklahoma once again,” said Twister Alley’s Creative Director Josh Hope. “We’re so excited to partner with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office to present the Kid Flix Oklahoma Student Film Competition this year. Our goal is to give high school, middle school and elementary students from all over the state an opportunity to show their films on the big screen, and encourage the art of filmmaking and writing to all interested students.”
“Our office was impressed by the professionalism and quality displayed at last year’s inaugural Twister Alley Film Festival and are proud to be a first-year sponsor of Twister Alley and title host of the Kid Flix Oklahoma Student Film Competition,” said OF+MO Director Tava Sofsky. “The festival was willing to collaborate with us to create an Oklahoma component for this year’s event, and we are excited to see creativity fostered at such a young age from our state’s elementary, junior high and high school students.”
