While attending the 2017 Association of Film Commissions International’s Locations Show and Global Production & Finance Conference, the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) and our Studio Oklahoma partners hosted the third annual Okie Roundup event at the Dan Eldon Center for Creative Activism in Malibu. This event brought together Oklahoma “expatriates” (former residents) now living and working in the film, television and music industries in the Los Angeles area. OF+MO was able to network with and meet many talented industry professionals and provide them with information on the growing Oklahoma film and music industries as well as our state’s competitive 35-37% cash rebate program.
This year’s event featured an added panel component with Oklahoma expatriate filmmakers Kristofer McNeeley (Vice President of Production & Development at MarVista Entertainment) as well as producer and Sundance alum Blake Pickens (“The Land”). The duo shared valuable conversation from their respective realms of experience with those in attendance. Guests were also serenaded with the sweet sounds of Oklahoma music from Maggie McClure and Shane Henry.
OF+MO wishes to thank Kathy Eldon and the Dan Eldon Center for Creative Activism for the beautiful space and hosting our event; our special guest speakers Kristofer McNeeley and Blake Pickens; musicians Maggie McClure and Shane Henry; and all who attended.
