Note from Tava

Dear Oklahoma industry partners and friends,

It’s a new season and we certainly feel it at the Oklahoma Film & Music Office (OFMO). I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as the new Oklahoma Film & Music director and your industry partner. I have only been here for a few weeks, but I am thrilled to report that the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program reopened on August 12 and has been well received by local and out-of-state filmmakers.

Since the reopening, our first film to prequalify for the cash rebate is “Te Ata”. “Te Ata” is a Chickasaw Nation film and is currently filming throughout the state. This production is one of many films that will utilize as many crew, talent and production services available in Oklahoma and bring additional exciting opportunities that will boost our growing film industry. When you have an opportunity, visit oklahomafilm.org for the current listing of pre-qualified films and their potential start dates.

On that note—you should already be registered in our Production Guide if you are receiving my correspondence. Please take a moment to update your contact information and credits. If you know of a fellow crew person who may be new to Oklahoma, please encourage them to register for our Production Guide. The Production Guide is one of the fastest ways to share your contact information and highlight your credits, and it is FREE to you!

Additionally, if you or someone you know is an expatriate, you may register for the Production Guide so that when you return home you may share your talent with our local industry. If you own a registered Film Friendly business or support service, please take the time to re-familiarize yourselves with our current rebate guidelines, as productions continue to seek a variety of goods and services.

Don’t forget to follow us! Join us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and visit our website for the latest industry buzz and announcements of crew calls, talent search, in and out-of-state film forums and other industry opportunities.

Finally, I look forward to enhancing our state’s already strong film and music industry. Oklahoma is truly a creative atmosphere with big plans for the future. I am exhilarated to be home, and our office looks forward to serving the state of Oklahoma and the film and music industry within.

Please don’t hesitate to email me with questions or concerns.

Best,

Tava Maloy Sofsky
