“I Can Only Imagine” Available Now

After a successful theatrical run earlier this year, Lionsgate and Provident Films proudly announce the release of “I Can Only Imagine” on digital platforms beginning June 5, followed by the DVD, Blu-Ray and On-Demand release on June 12, 2018.

“I Can Only Imagine” was filmed in Oklahoma utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) and began principal photography on November 30, 2016, in Oklahoma City. Additional filming occurred throughout the surrounding region, including Jones, El Reno, Yukon, Del City and Bethany. More than 340 local jobs were created throughout the production’s more than 270-day stint in Oklahoma, which includes pre-production, production and post-production, and saw a direct in-state spend totaling over $4 million dollars.

Directed by Jon and Andrew Erwin, the film tells the story behind the iconic, multi-platinum song “I Can Only Imagine”, which to this day remains the best-selling Christian song of all time. Written by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard, the song was inspired by Millard’s own life and relationships, which the film explores in an authentic portrait of faith, love and family. “I Can Only Imagine” boasts an all-star cast including Academy Award-winner Cloris Leachman (“The Last Picture Show”), Dennis Quaid (“The Rookie”), country singer/actor Trace Adkins and Broadway’s J. Michael Finley (“Les Miserables”).

The faith-based film brought in $17.1 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend on March 16, 2018, and went on to gross over $83 million during its entire theatrical run. “I Can Only Imagine” is the most successful film to utilize the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program at the theatrical box office and also ranks as one of both the highest grossing faith based films and music biopics of all-time.

The film’s Blu-Ray Special Edition DVD/Digital Combination Package will feature over three hours of extra content, including seven deleted scenes, in-depth behind-the-scenes featurettes, music videos and more.
