Film Rebate Extension Passes

Dear Oklahoma Film Industry Members and Colleagues:

I am thrilled to inform you that House Bill 2580, which will extend the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program’s sunset date to July 1, 2024, was heard this morning on the Senate floor and passed by a vote of 31 to 11!! As a final step, the bill now moves to Governor Fallin’s office where it will await the Governor’s signature.

The ten year extension of our rebate program paves the way for strengthening and solidifying the future of our growing Oklahoma production industry. It has been truly a team effort this year. A big thank you to all of you in the industry who rallied with a big show of support during session. We are also very grateful for the support of both the Greater Oklahoma City and Tulsa Chambers of Commerce and all of the community leaders across the state who understand the value of having productions come to their area, as well as the importance of growing jobs and industry for our state. They made their voices heard loud and clear at the Capitol. Lastly, we owe a debt of gratitude to our bill authors this year, Senator Clark Jolley and Representative Todd Thomsen, who fought long and hard to champion our cause during this year’s session. They did an amazing job.

This is a big day for all of us and we are thrilled to share this sweet victory with each of you!

All the best,

Jill Simpson
Director, Oklahoma Film & Music Office
