VMI Worldwide, in association with Archer Films and the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), is proud to announce the successful completion of photography on the feature film “Wake Up” in Oklahoma. The film will now be represented by VMI Worldwide at the 2018 Cannes Film Market in France where selected screen material will be presented to buyers for distribution rights to the film.
Francesca Eastwood (“M.F.A.”, “Jersey Boys”), Malik Yoba (“Cool Runnings”), William Forsythe (“Halloween”, “The Rock”) and Oklahoma’s own James Austin Kerr have joined previously announced Golden Globe® winning and Emmy nominated actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors”, “Stonewall”) in “Wake Up”, which marks cinematographer Fedor Lyass’ (“Hardcore Henry”) feature debut, co-directed with Aleksander Chernyaev (“The Solider”). The film was produced in Oklahoma by VMI Worldwide alongside Archer Films.
“Wake Up” centers on a John Doe (Meyers), who wakes up in a hospital bed with no recollection of who he is, and soon finds that he’s wanted by the police for a series of murders. With the help of his nurse (Eastwood) who believes he is innocent, he escapes from the hospital, and together they dig for clues to find the true killer.
“We’re thrilled with how the film has come together, and excited to present select footage for buyers during the festival and showcase the performances of these talented actors,” says producer and VMI Worldwide president Andre Relis.
Administered by OF+MO, “Wake Up” utilized the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program that offers a 35-37% cash rebate on localized spending. The film, which shot with an entirely Oklahoma-based crew, began principal photography in March 2018 with filming throughout April in Oklahoma City and Guthrie.
“The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) wishes to congratulate the entire cast and crew of ‘Wake Up’ on the successful wrap of production on their film in Oklahoma,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We look forward to the film’s promotion of Oklahoma and our state’s film incentive program to the international audiences at Cannes and beyond as the production moves forward in securing distribution for release.”
