The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to support the inaugural deadCenter University Screenwriting Workshop at Rose State College next month. Twenty-four high school and/or college students will be selected for this FREE unique opportunity to work with professional screenwriting mentors. The top two participants will have the chance to write a script for the deadCenter University short films, which will debut at the 25th annual deadCenter Film Festival in June and be submitted to additional festivals.
“deadCenter Film is thrilled to be collaborating with Rose State College for the upcoming Screenwriting Workshop,” said Victor Caballero, deadCenter Film Director of Education & Outreach. “This event offers a unique chance for participants to learn from professional mentors who are eager to share their knowledge and expertise. It’s always inspiring to connect with passionate storytellers and support them in refining their craft. Programs like these create invaluable opportunities for learning, growth and turning creative visions into reality.”
“Education is a key component of the state’s film and television industry, and we’re happy to partner with deadCenter to further film educational opportunities, particularly for high school and college students who represent the next generation of Oklahoma filmmakers and workforce,” said Jeanette Stanton, OF+MO Director.
Aligning with Rose State College’s renowned screenwriting program, this workshop will focus on storytelling, character development and industry standard techniques. Sessions will be held on February 1, 8, 22 and March 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. The application deadline is January 13. Apply at deadcenterfilm.org/dcu.
Screenwriting mentors and additional updates will continue to be announced via @deadcentereducation on Instagram.
