deadCenter Film Festival to Host 17th Year

Take a look back on deadCenter Film Festival 2015!

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning sponsor of the 2017 deadCENTER Film Festival taking place Thursday, June 8, through Sunday, June 11, at several locations in downtown Oklahoma City.

Named one of MovieMaker Magazine’s “Top 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” in 2017, deadCENTER promotes, encourages and celebrates independent films with both the organization’s annual film festival as well as their year-round educational outreach via the deadCENTER Institute. Last year’s festival attracted over 30,000 attendees resulting in an economic impact of approximately $4.5 million for Oklahoma City.

Submissions for the 2017 festival totaled over 1,200 making it the most competitive field in the festival’s history. Of the 101 selections for the festival, 20 films were made in Oklahoma or by Oklahoma filmmakers including feature films “Far Western”, “I Stand: The Guardians of the Water”, “Kreep”, “Gremlin”, “Alien” and “The Scent of Rain and Lightning”, which filmed in Oklahoma utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to attend several film festivals, and nobody is friendlier, more supportive or genuinely happy to help filmmakers than the amazing folks at deadCENTER,” said Producer and Writer of “The Scent of Rain and Lightning” Jeff Robison. “It’s first class all the way, and we are ecstatic to get to participate.”

OF+MO will sponsor the deadCENTER Oklahoma Film Icon Panel Series featuring conversations with this year’s festival ICON award recipients and other special guests. The panels will provide attendees networking and educational opportunities on a variety of topics such as writing, casting, directing, animation, music and acting. Confirmed panelists thus far include Casting Director Junie Lowry-Johnson (“Homeland”, “Desperate Housewives”), Director Mike Mitchell (“Trolls”, “Shrek Forever After”), Writer/Producer Nancy Miller (“Saving Grace”), Actress/Producer Lymari Nadal (“Kreep”), Director Neil Berkeley (“Gilbert”) and more to be announced. These panels will take place on Saturday, June 10, at the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) located on the Bricktown Canal at 25 S. Oklahoma Ave. Refreshments and networking opportunities will be provided throughout the panel sessions which are free and open to both the public and festival goers.

A schedule of the panels is as follows:
