City of Ponca City Achieves Film Friendly Certification

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in conjunction with the City of Ponca City, is proud to announce the city has achieved film friendly certification after completing the requirements for OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.

From the silent movies of the 1920s produced at the historic Miller Brothers 101 Ranch to upcoming feature film releases like “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Ponca City has a long history of supporting film and television production within the community. Previous film credits including “Twister,” “High Stakes: The Life and Times of E.W. Marland,” “Wildlife,” “American Gods” and “The Adventures of Rufus,” to name a few.

“Film and television have had a huge impact on the economy of Ponca City,” said City of Ponca City Development Services Director Chris Henderson. “We’re excited to further support Oklahoma’s film and television industry in Ponca City, and we’re here to work to ensure those productions are successful while doing so.”

The first city in Kay County to achieve ‘film friendly’ certification, Ponca City offers a unique combination of history, art and nature set among a thriving downtown and picturesque lakes and landscapes. Popular attractions and filming sites include highlights such as the E.W. Marland Mansion, Standing Bear Park, Museum & Education Center, Cann Memorial Botanical Gardens, the Conoco Museum and the Poncan Theatre in the city’s historic downtown.

“We’re excited that Ponca City is the latest community to join our growing roster of film friendly cities and towns throughout the state,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “Ponca City is truly a special place that we hope more filmmakers discover as their community continues to showcase themselves to the state’s growing film and television industry.”
