City of Guymon Achieves Oklahoma Film Friendly Certification

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in conjunction with the City of Guymon, is proud to announce the city has achieved film friendly certification after completing the requirements for OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.

“The economic prospects that unfurl before us are more than just figures; they are a testament to our dedication. By inviting filmmakers to capture Guymon’s essence on camera, we are propelling local businesses, spurring tourism, and fostering a vibrant economic ecosystem.” said Kim Peterson, Mayor of Guymon. “Beyond the financial gains, the films created here will etch our scenic grandeur onto the hearts of audiences worldwide.”

The first film friendly certified community in Texas County, the City of Guymon is known as the biggest small town in the panhandle of Oklahoma. Boasting a rich history dating back to the city’s establishment in 1901, Guymon is home to a number of nationally recognized events, including the Bacon BBQ Brews & Blues Festival, the Five State Motorcycle Run and Motorcycle Rodeo and the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo, the fifth largest outdoor rodeo in the nation. Guymon also serves as the hub for travelers visiting the Black Mesa State Park, offering several lodging accommodations and critical infrastructure for productions filming in this region.

“With infinite skylines stretching across the plains, charming rural communities and a rich history, which has overcome everything from the Great Depression to the Dust Bowl, the panhandle region of Oklahoma is truly unlikely any other area of the state,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “We’re incredibly proud that the City of Guymon is our first film friendly certified community in this region and applaud the city for their collaborative efforts in working to welcome and support film and television production in their area.”
