“Breaking Them Up” Now Filming in Oklahoma

Breaking Them Up, LLC, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), is pleased to announce production is underway for the independent feature film “Breaking Them Up”, which is utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO.

“Breaking Them Up” tells the story of Damien, a resourceful eighth grader who wants nothing more than for his parents to be happy – only with other people. Convinced they aren’t right for each other, Damien and his best friend Erin scheme to create favorable circumstances in which Damien’s parents will meet new partners. The film stars Kelen Coleman (“The Office”, “Newsroom”), Stephen Schneider (“Bumblebee”, “Broad City”), Tess Aubert (“Shameless, “Criminal Minds”) and Jakob Wedel (“Criminal Minds”, “NCIS: Los Angeles”). Former Oklahoma native Bennett LeBarre serves as Executive Producer alongside fellow expatriate Bernie Stern who is producing the film with Scott Dow and Tim Ogletree.

“I’m so beyond excited to bring a movie back to my home state,” said LeBarre. “Oklahoma’s locations are so unique, and the local people within the communities where we are filming have been incredibly kind and helpful.”

“Breaking Them Up” began principal photography in Oklahoma City on July 24, 2019, and will continue filming until mid-August.

“Since the recent passing of Senate Bill 200, which expanded the benefits and longevity of the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program, our state has flourished with film activity in what has been our busiest season to date,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We’re so thankful the program has allowed expatriates like LeBarre and Stern the opportunity to bring film production back to Oklahoma, and we are continually grateful to our community partners for their film-friendly heartland hospitality in welcoming these films during this time of continued growth.”
