Featured Location for November 2020: Chickasaw Cultural Center

The Chickasaw Nation has a history of storytelling through many mediums, including film with the feature film productions “Pearl”, “Te Ata” and “The Chickasaw Rancher” lensed in Oklahoma. Offering a Smithsonian-caliber experience, the Chickasaw Cultural Center is a world-class museum complex devoted to the celebration of Chickasaw history and culture. Located on 184 acres of rolling hills, woodlands and streams near Sulphur, this museum complex features more than 96,000 square feet of indoor space, including an exhibit center, the Holisso Research Center and a large format theater, the Anoli’, which previously hosted the Sundance Institute for a Film Forward event in 2012. An amphitheater, café, sky terrace, art galleries, traditional village and several water features also reside on the grounds. Currently, the Center is closed due to health and safety regulations amid COVID-19; however, they look forward to re-opening next year to welcome visitors and future filming and related events.
