Among the state’s most diverse terrain, Little Sahara State Park is a marvel of Oklahoma geography with over 1,600 acres of sand dunes ranging in height from 25 to 75 feet. The vast dunes were created over time from terrace deposits, remnants of prehistoric times when the Cimarron River flowed over the entire area. From the magic of Arabian nights to the bleak contrast of a dystopian future, Little Sahara has set the scene for a number of productions that have utilized the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program, including the Starz television series “American Gods”, “Let Me Make You a Martyr” and “The Jurassic Games” (pictured above). While this location is one of Oklahoma’s most popular State Parks for filming and photography, those interested in shooting on-location at Little Sahara should be mindful of the safety rules and guidelines for filming at this park, particularly now during peak season, as well as the required time for processing filming permits.
