Located in Central Oklahoma about 40 minutes south of Oklahoma City, the City of Purcell is a historic community that dates back to its founding in 1887 as a railroad collective. The city’s historic charm is best evidenced at a number of sites, including The Grand Canadian Theater located on Main Street, which is lined with unique shops and businesses. Throughout November and December, the city hosts “Lights from the Heart”, a drive-thru holiday lighting extravaganza that draws a number of visitors from around the state as well as interstate traffic from I-35. Purcell’s official motto as the “Heart of Oklahoma” wonderfully captures its film-friendly spirit having recently welcomed one of its first major film productions, “The Turkey Bowl”, for which it graciously hosted the production’s pivotal parade sequence.
