Film Artist for May 2016: Scott Swearingen

Scott Swearingen is an accomplished screenwriter and documentary film producer currently based in the Tulsa area. Scott earned a degree in English from Oklahoma State University and has concentrated his efforts on telling the stories of larger than life Oklahomans including Thomas Gilcrease and Woody Guthrie as well as renowned Native American artists such as Willard Stone.

Swearingen’s latest film, “High Stakes: the Life and Times of E.W. Marland”, chronicles the notorious life of former Oklahoma governor and oil tycoon E.W. Marland.  “For a long time, I worked alone or with my wife or one or two people, but with the Marland piece I began to see the story was simply too big,” said Swearingen. “There is a wealth of production talent and younger videographers, graphic artists and editors in Tulsa. I discovered that the necessity of collaboration became the best of all worlds.”
