Film Artist for July 2018: Krista Perry

California native, Krista Perry has been working in the Oklahoma film industry since moving to Tulsa in 2012. She is one of few members of the I.A.T.S.E. local 484 union to be both a key hair stylist and key makeup artist.

“I am very fortunate to work with so many dedicated and talented crew members. We all share the common goal that we want to bring to life the characters that we read in scripts.”

For nearly a decade, Perry has freelanced throughout the country as a hair and makeup artist. She gained her knowledge and expertise through higher education training courses specifically crafted towards production makeup and hair. Her extensive dedication to always learning has created a versatility that allows her the ability to create any look for any project.

“Education is power. One of the hardest decisions I have made was to go back to school for a full-time program, while also working as a full-time freelance makeup artist. The days were long; however, it was the absolute best thing I have done for my career, because it allows me to be multifaceted in our Oklahoma market.”

Last year, Perry worked on six feature films, her third season of “Big XII This Week” with ESPN and assisted in a dozen nationwide television commercials that were all filmed in Oklahoma. Her training and experience allow her the ability to work in either the hair or makeup department.

“Everyone in the Oklahoma film industry has an incredible passion and energy that makes me so proud to be a part of the Oklahoma film family. We spend weeks, sometimes months, throughout the state in extreme weather conditions and terrains, but it’s all worth it because we have developed lifelong friendships through our work.”

In addition to her on-location television and film work, Perry also owns Tulsa Bridal Beauty, a wedding hair and makeup business that services brides for weddings and special events year-round. After a few short years in Oklahoma, Tulsa Bridal Beauty was named one of the best “Big Day Beauty Salons” by BRIDES Magazine.

Perry is also the founder and Co-Chapter Director of Flashes of Hope Tulsa, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating powerful, uplifting portraits of children fighting cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Most recently, Perry worked in Dallas as a hairstylist on USA Network’s “Queen of the South” Season 3.
