Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heather Valenzuela works as a Set Teacher for film and television productions working on-location in Oklahoma. Previous production credits include “Reservation Dogs”, “Killers of the Flower Moon”, “Unplugging” and “Possessions”.
How did you get started in the film industry?
I was a classroom teacher for many years. Last October, my fiddle teacher was involved with a film. She recommended me for a set teaching gig, and my new career was born!

I am a certified teacher.
What are some of your most recent successes (credits or accolades) related to your career in the industry?
I have recently worked on “Reservation Dogs”, “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Possessions”.
What has your career in the state’s film industry taught you?
My new career has taught me that my dream job does exist. I’m in it!
What is the highlight of your career thus far?
I have loved every gig I have worked thus far, but working on the set of “Reservation Dogs” was a true honor. I had the privilege of witnessing history in the making. The show is monumental. Sterlin Harjo, the writers, the producers, the directors, the cast and the crew are some of my heroes. Working with them was a dream. Everyone should see this show! Check it out!
What is your favorite aspect of working in Oklahoma’s film and television industry?
I love collaborating with other Okies and visitors to make our dreams come true!
Are there any local film organizations, resources or events that have been beneficial to you in your career?
The Oklahoma Film and Music Office and the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts and Culture have been very helpful in answering questions and referring me to other useful resources.
What are you working on now or next?
I just finished my second gig with Red Clay Studios (love them!) on a horror film called “Possessions”. Get ready for “Possessions”…visually stunning and so creepy!
