Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rush Fest Music Festival specializes in discovering and showcasing amazing local music, videography, photography and entrepreneurial talent.
Can you tell us how and why you started your business?
I love music! I grew up listening to my father play and perform blues music live. Once I got into the music scene myself, I met a lot of amazing local artists. We all came together and decided to put on this huge concert that became a festival in 2017.
What services do you provide within the film/music industry?
Rush Fest provides a platform for emerging local artists. The attendants of the fest get a chance to enjoy amazing talent that they may not have ever heard of or seen before. Performers have increased their fanbase, followers and streams, which in return helped the monetization of their art.
How has your company grown to meet the needs of Oklahoma’s film and/or music industries over the last 3-5 years?
We showcase over 50 local artists. In 2019 and 2021 we were able to invite national artists along with local artists to perform, which increased our attendance numbers tremendously (over 2000 attendees). Local performers received great feedback and have been invited to perform at other amazing events in and out of Tulsa!
What are the benefits of basing your company’s operations in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma is becoming a great place to visit because of the arts, musical talent, film, as well as the cost of living and thriving entrepreneurial businesses.
What would you consider your business’s greatest accomplishment to date?
Becoming an event that the city of Tulsa anticipates attending every year since 2017!
Are there any recent successes your company would like to highlight related to work within the Oklahoma film and music industries?
Being recognized and nominated as business of the month in 2022!
What are you working on now/next?
I am currently preparing for upcoming staff meetings to discuss plans for this year’s festival, taking place July 8-9, 2022. New artists, theme, location and more!
What is your goal/vision for the future of your company?
To be one of the biggest and most successful summer music festivals ever!
What advice do you have for others who are considering starting a film or music business in Oklahoma?
Don’t stop! Keep doing the work, keep pushing content, and be authentic.
What opportunities do you believe await Oklahoma’s film/music industry in the future?
I believe we will be the “go-to” state for videography and music. Our creatives are hungry and ready to show the world what we can do!
