Tulsa American Film Festival Announces Inaugural Event

The Tulsa American Film Festival (TAFFest) is pleased to announce the launch of their inaugural event which will take place October 15 -18, 2015. TAFFest aims to showcase independent short and feature-length films from across the United States and highlight both Native American cinema and Oklahoma based-filmmakers and student short films. The festival will also feature a classic Oklahoma-centric film retrospective as well as panels and networking receptions and parties.

“We have been really encouraged by the support and enthusiasm shown by the people in Tulsa as well as the respected organizations we are working within starting this new, fresh film festival. We look forward to putting on a great show and some fun parties,” Ben Arredondo, founder and director of TAFFest.

The festival recently announced their schedule of films for the event with several Oklahoma films slated to screen including, Lone Man’s Land”, Call to Okies: The Park Grubbs Story”, “Bra’d Squad” and “Crouching Lion, Hidden Treasure”, to name a few.

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office is proud to be a participating sponsor of this event where they will host the festival’s official Opening Night Filmmaker Reception at Hoot Owl Coffee on Thursday, October 15 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. In conjunction with the festival, OF+MO hosted an open call for a musician to perform at the reception, with Count Tutu being selected.

“The city of Tulsa is fertile soil to support the festival’s mission to celebrate independent feature films made right here in the U.S. We look forward to this special inaugural event where we will host the festival’s kick-off reception and recognize the accomplishments of the featured filmmakers and our own local talent,” Tava Maloy Sofsky, director of OF+MO.

TAFFest screenings will take place at Circle Cinema, Gilcrease Museum of Art, and the Woody Guthrie Center. Tickets and limited VIP Passes are now on sale. For the film festival’s weekend schedule, including screenings and ticket links, please visit TAFFest.
