Don White with Stephen White and special guest Travis Fite
May 19 2018 | 7:00 pm CDT$25 – $30
Don White last played at the old Church in September for a couple of songs with Becky Hobbs at Monica Taylor’s 50th Birthday Party and we just knew we needed to have him back to raise the roof on this old place.
Don is a songwriter’s songwriter with Rosanne Cash, The Oak Ridge Boys, Suzy Boggus, Razzy Bailey, and Davis Daniel just some of the artists who have recorded his songs. He’s also a regularly requested studio musician who has worked with Waylon Jennings, J.J. Cale, Marty Stuart, The Tractors, Jamie Hartford, Katie Moffit, and Johnny Rodriguez.
J.J. Cale helped Don start his first band and played guitar in that band. Everyone who is part of that “New Tulsa Sound” owes a debt of gratitude to Don because he was “The Tulsa Sound” before there was a “New Tulsa Sound” and that’s a big part of why Eric Clapton asked Don to join him on a tribute album, “The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale,” with Eric Clapton and friends, as one of the featured artists, along with Tom Petty, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Mark Knopfler and Eric.”
He has also performed as a solo act and with his own band in concert with Waylon Jennings, J.J. Cale, Dwight Yoakam, Willie Nelson, Don Williams, George Strait, Delbert McClinton, Toby Keith, David Allen Coe, Merle Haggard, Ry Cooder and others.
A years back, Don released an album with his son Steve and we’re pleased that he’ll be here along with one of his regular bandmates and a regular at our shows, Travis Fite. Tickets are $30 at the door or $25 in advance. Doors and Potluck at 6 p.m., music at 7 p.m.
