BREAKDOWN OF ROLES

[KEITH] A 22-year-old motorcycle-riding, magic mushroom-chomping friend of Wayne’s. When he discovers Wayne is missing and likely on his way to Los Angeles with the band, he takes off in hot pursuit across the country to find him. Major Supporting.

[CASSIDY] An adorable but wise beyond her years 10-year-old girl trying to buy ice cream. She is confused why the ice cream truck doesn’t actually have ice cream. 2 scenes, 8 lines.

[CRAZY HANK] 40 to 60 years old; all ethnicities; man. The owner of a small truck stop in the middle of nowhere, who explains to the band, in no uncertain terms, just how stupid they are. He tells them to never ever ever ever come back to his truck stop again. Ever. And that means ever. 1 Scene 8 lines.

[PR WOMAN] 30 to 45 years old; all ethnicities; woman. Backstage at the Palladium, she works a ticket giveaway for the crowd. She is professional, sharp and great at her job. 3 scenes, 9 lines

[DRY CLEANER ASST] 20 to 30 years old; all ethnicities; any gender. He comes backstage to deliver the bunny costume after a cleaning. He’s just doing his job, man. He doesn’t need to be hassled. 1 Scene, 7 lines

[GUY] 18 to 25 years old; all ethnicities; man. Standing in line at the record store with his girlfriend, waiting to meet Green Day. The guy trying to cut in line is one of his classmates and though it’s pretty cool he was in that band at the talent show, it’s still not cool he’s trying to cut. 1 scene, 6 lines

[COLBY] 50 to 70 years old; all ethnicities; man. A man in his 50s-70s. A mechanic on the lonely highway delivering the bad news, in his manner full of colloquialisms, that the car is screwed. 2 scenes, 4 lines.

[GEORGE] 35 to 55 years old; all ethnicities; man. A giant security guard at the high school. He helps the guys get out of class and wishes he could go with them. He has an amazing operatic voice, and shows it off by singing an operatic version of the Green Day song “Basketcase”. 1 scene, 4 lines, 1 speech

[USHER] 40 to 60 years old; all ethnicities; woman. She works at the Palladium. Yeah, she feels bad Tommy’s band is inside, but if he doesn’t have a ticket, there’s nothing she can do. 1 scene, 5 lines

[GIRL] 18 to 25 years old; all ethnicities; woman. A high school girl waiting in line at the record store to meet Green Day. She’s not too crazy one of her classmates is trying to cut in line and calls him out for it. Especially since it was that guy that got booed offtstage at the talent show. 1 scene, 4 lines

[SECURITY GUARD] 40 to 60 years old; all ethnicities; man. He is a parking lot security guard at the Palladium for the Green Day concert. He really doesn’t understand what this van of teenage punks is talking about. This is a concert, not a dog show, for crying out loud. So he tells the boys where to park and who to talk to. 1 scene, 4 lines.

[KID 1] A 11-13-year-old boy at the ice cream truck. When Fred thinks the magic mushroom made him invisible, this kid decides to mess with him. 1 scene, 1 line.

[RECORD STORE WOMAN] 20 to 30 years old; all ethnicities; woman. Managing the line for Green Day’s appearance at the record store, she clarifies where the line ends at the cutoff. 1 scene, 1 line

[MS THOMPSON] 35 to 55 years old; all ethnicities; woman. Fred’s sarcastic high school teacher. When George enters to get Fred out of class, she doesn’t care. It’s not like he’s learning anything anyway. 1 scene, 2 lines.
