Over 200 films, including 80 specifically from Arkansas and Oklahoma filmmakers, will be shown at the festival, including works from Cherokee Film, Kyle Kauwika Harris, Karen Reese, Lance McDaniel, Zachary Burns, Justin Jayne, Jordan Wilson, Al Mertens, Leya Hale, Mark Williams and many more. As part of their partnership, OF+MO will host an exhibition table throughout the festival as well as lead a ‘Film in Oklahoma’ panel featuring selected Oklahoma filmmakers Katie Hightower (“Haley’s Game”), Chuck Price (“Full Court Press: The Ken Zacher Story”) and Logan Walcher (“Barrom Heroes”) on Saturday, August 24, at 3:30 p.m.
“We’re honored to have been invited to attend the Fort Smith International Film Festival & MidAmerica Film Market, and we’re grateful for both the warm hospitality we’ve received thus far as well as the stunning showcase of Oklahoma filmmakers who will be represented at the festival,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “This regional collaboration is extremely valuable, and we look forward to highlighting the accomplishments of our industries alongside the talented filmmakers in attendance and participating on our panel.”
“Having the Oklahoma Film + Music Office come to the festival is an actualization of our goal to grow our film community regionally,” said Fort Smith International Film Festival Executive Director Brandon Chase Goldsmith. “Unique and amazing stories are being told throughout the middle of America and working together we can show off our area’s talent to the world.”
Presented by The River Valley Film Society Inc., Fort Smith International Film Festival seeks to build a vibrant film culture in the River Valley region through transformative cinematic experiences and educational film opportunities. The annual event has grown tremendously since its initial launch, and has expanded this year to include three days of programming across multiple venues to accommodate additional screenings, educational panels and the launch of a distribution marketplace, MidAmerica Film Market.
