City of Pawnee Achieves Oklahoma Film Friendly Certification

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in conjunction with the City of Pawnee, is proud to announce the city has achieved ‘film friendly’ certification after completing the requirements for OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.

“The City of Pawnee is excited to have completed the process of becoming a certified Oklahoma Film Friendly Community,” said Pawnee Mayor Alice Cottle. “Our small city is full of history, culture, recreation, captivating country scenery and friendly folks that are ready to welcome the arts in any form to our community. We are full of passion and pride for our community, and sharing it with others is what we do here as we hope to open our doors to the film industry.”

Located in Northeast Oklahoma, Pawnee is the first community within Pawnee County to achieve film friendly certification through OF+MO’s program. Rich with Native and western heritage and featuring a historic town square, camera-ready locations in Pawnee include the Buffalo Theatre, Dick Tracy Museum and more.

“Earlier this year, our office was invited by the Pawnee Chamber of Commerce and Buffalo Theatre to present a film friendly workshop to the community where we were met with an enthusiastic response to the program from city leadership as well as local business owners and residents,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “Thanks to their quick collaboration led by Mayor Cottle, we’re proud to certify the City of Pawnee as ‘film friendly’, and we applaud their efforts in doing so as we hope Oklahoma’s film and television industry will further positively impact this region.”
