Based in the Oklahoma City suburb of Bethany, a film friendly certified community, Last Looks Pro specializes in providing professional makeup and hair products that industry artists are using across the world.
Can you tell us how and why you started your business?
Co-founder of Last Looks Pro, Sharon Tabb, has been a makeup department head on many Oklahoma-based films and has worked with many other makeup and hair department professionals throughout her career. In working on these films, Tabb saw many out-of-state deliveries for products not found here in Oklahoma, so she and her husband, Doug, decided to open a professional store in Oklahoma, so productions could keep their dollars in-state further enhancing the benefits of the state’s film incentive program for qualified film and television productions.
What services do you provide within the film/music industry?
We provide professional hair and makeup tools and products with which artists are familiar.
How has your company grown to meet the needs of Oklahoma’s film and/or music industries over the last 3-5 years?
We opened in November 2021, so we are just finding our legs.
What are the benefits of basing your company’s operations in Oklahoma?
The simple reason is – we live here. Oklahoma is a great place to shoot films, TV and commercials, and we look forward to growing our business with our home state’s industry.
What would you consider your business’s greatest accomplishment to date?
Right now, just to get open. When we started our ordering process, quite few of our vendors were still struggling with COVID, so they had trouble filling our orders. Since we are a new store, we didn’t have the inventory to cover vendor slowdowns, so we had to wait a couple of months to get sufficient inventory in order to open.
Are there any recent successes your company would like to highlight related to work within the Oklahoma film and music industries?
We’re the first business of our kind specifically tailored to meet the make-up, hair and beauty needs unique to the film and television industry, specializing in products you can’t find anywhere else with live make-up demonstrations, consultations and more in our store.
What are you working on now/next?
We are continually talking with local and out-of-state professional artists and staying updated on products and tools of the trade.
What is your goal/vision for the future of your company?
To keep bringing top industry products to Oklahoma, so that Oklahoma dollars stay in Oklahoma.
What advice do you have for others who are considering starting a film or music business in Oklahoma?
Do your research. We are a growing industry with needs yet to be filled.
