Established in 1887, the City of Woodward boasts a rich legacy from its humble beginnings on the Cherokee Outlet to its current contributions to the state’s energy industry. Once known as one of the wildest towns in the region with over 22 saloons lining its red dirt streets, Woodward’s western heritage is showcased at the Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum (pictured above). Community development and infrastructure improvements have been a major focus of the city including a revitalization of the historic Woodward Main Street, home to the Woodward Arts Theatre. In additional to annually hosting the Twister Alley International Film Festival, this month welcomes a showcase of ghoulish films as the Woodward Arts Theatre hosts the Twisted Horror Picture Show. Those looking for more thrills can check out Nightmare in the Country Scream Park, one of the state’s top Halloween attractions.
