“Body Brokers” Now Filming in Oklahoma

Roxwell Films, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) and the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture (Tulsa FMAC), are pleased to announce the start of principal photography in Tulsa on the feature film “Body Brokers”. The film is utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO.

Written and directed by Tulsa’s own John Swab, “Body Brokers” is the true and untold story of the multibillion-dollar drug and alcohol treatment scheme where former addicts and dealers become millionaires as fly-by-night “body brokers” who recruit other addicts to seek treatment and sell these patients to facilities paying the highest price. Swab also serves as producer on the film alongside Jeremy M. Rosen (“Dog Eat Dog”, “Charlie Says”) and Robert Ogden Barnum (“Margin Call”, “All Is Lost”) for Roxwell Films.

“After experiencing the support, investment, local casting and crew, production value, locations, accommodations, food and hospitality that Tulsa and Oklahoma afforded us with ‘Run with the Hunted’ in 2018, John and I felt compelled to return for ‘Body Brokers’, which sees a top notch ensemble cast exposing a predatory contributing factor to the opioid crisis,” said Producer Jeremy M. Rosen.

Principal photography on “Body Brokers” began in early August with the City of Tulsa serving as the primary production hub throughout filming. The film marks the third production from Swab to be filmed in the area utilizing the state’s film incentive program.

“We’re thrilled to once again work with Tulsa-native John Swab and his team on this production,” said Abby Kurin, Executive Director of Tulsa FMAC, a division of Tulsa Regional Tourism. “For John to select Tulsa again for the third time is incredible. This is a testament to not only the filmmaker’s love for his hometown, but also the level of professionalism, ease of filming and creativity Tulsa is able to provide productions.”

“Body Brokers” boasts an all-star cast, including Academy Award-winner Melissa Leo (“The Fighter”, “The Big Short”), Emmy nominee Michael K. Williams (“When They See Us”, “The Wire”), Frank Grillo (“The Purge”, “Captain America: Winter Soldier”), Alice Englert (“Beautiful Creatures”, “Them That Follow”), Jack Kilmer (“The Nice Guys”, “The Stanford Prison Experiment”), Jessica Rothe (“La La Land”, “Happy Death Day”) and Peter Greene (“Pulp Fiction”, “The Mask”).

“The all-around caliber of talent associated with this film is incredible, and we’re proud to once again work with John Swab, Jeremy Rosen and their team to bring this production to fruition in Oklahoma,” said Tava Maloy Sofsky, Directory of OF+MO. “The return of these filmmakers is not only a testament to the effectiveness and stability of the rebate program, but also to our diverse locations, skilled crews and film-friendly businesses that continue to provide support and stability for film production in Oklahoma.”
