Transcript for “Heartland” Trailer
The Oklahoma feature film “Heartland” has been selected to screen at the CineQuest Film Festival taking place in San Jose / Silicon Valley, California, from March 1-13, 2016.
“Heartland” tells the story of a young artist who, after a tragic loss, returns back to her mother’s stifling household where she finds temporary escape in a reckless weekend affair. Velinda Godfrey, who co-wrote the script with Todd Waring, stars in the film alongside fellow Oklahoman Laura Spencer (“The Big Bang Theory”, “The Lizzie Bennet Diaries”) and Beth Grant (“The Mindy Project”, “Crazy Heart”). The production was filmed in Oklahoma in June 2015, and utilized the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO). The film marks the directorial debut of Maura Anderson (“Winter’s Bone”, “Would You Rather”) who also serves as the film’s producer alongside Godfrey, Jennifer Wood and co-producer Chris Freihofer of The Actor Factory in Norman.
Set in the home of the world’s most influential media technology companies such as Apple and Netflix, Cinequest Film Festival will welcome the world-premiere of “Heartland” alongside over 90 additional films making their international or national premieres. The festival, which was recently named the best film festival in the United States by “USA Today” readers, aims to showcase premiere films, renowned and emerging artists, and breakthrough technology-empowering global connectivity between creators, innovators and audiences.
“The last year has been a thrilling whirlwind, and I can’t believe this Saturday brings the privilege of sharing this film with the first audience,” said Godfrey. “I’ve never been more proud of my home state, or more honored. The local crew’s spirit was unbeatable, and the Oklahoma Film and Music Office made it all possible. The production gained value from Oklahoma’s natural beauty, and I wear my home state around my neck everyday as a reminder of the gift it has proven to be an Oklahoman. I’m forever grateful for the support from home, and hope we can share the film with locals soon.”
“Heartland” will premiere at CineQuest on Saturday, March 5 with additional festival screenings on Sunday, March 6 and Thursday, March 10.
“We are proud to hear that “Heartland” will be shared with the international audience in attendance at the prestigious CineQuest Film Festival,” said OF+MO Film and Locations Coordinator Yousef Kazemi. “We hope this is the first of many industry audiences who will get to see the hard work of our Oklahoma cast and crew on-screen, as well as the production value gained by films which utilize our incentive program.”
