Featured Location for January 2018: Bartlesville

Nestled in the rolling northeast hills of Oklahoma, the City of Bartlesville offers filmmakers a sprawling canvas of scenic vistas and a thriving oil industry. Home to Phillips Petroleum Company, a number of Oklahoma’s most treasured locations can be found in Bartlesville, including renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Price Tower and Woolaroc, a 3,700 acre wildlife preserve boasting one of the country’s finest museums. This film-friendly community has hosted a number of major film productions including Terrence Malick’s “To The Wonder”, “August: Osage County” and the forthcoming film “Starbright”.

“Bartlesville has been fortunate to host everything from large Hollywood productions to small independent documentaries. No matter the size, Bartlesville businesses and residents have been gracious and professional during filming. Having a production in the community is like having a convention in town. Instead of a two or three day conference, a film production will last anywhere from two to four months with cast and crew spending money on everything from groceries, gas, and retail items. In the tourism industry, we rely on giving visitors a positive experience in Oklahoma. The film industry has allowed us to amplify that message on a much grander scale. We look forward to continuing to be a part of this impactful and economically beneficial industry in Oklahoma,” said Maria Gus, Executive Director of the Bartlesville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
