Film Artist for March 2017: Pepper Reed

Originally from Tulsa, Pepper Reed graduated from Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City before moving to New York City to study Acting at Playwrights Horizons Theater School (part of the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University) where she graduated with her BFA.

After 5 years in New York City, 8 years in Los Angeles and 2 years in Portland, Oregon, Reed moved home to Oklahoma knowing that she wanted to make films, but unsure of what role she wanted to play in creating them. At the suggestion of her dad, she took various classes at Oklahoma City Community College to help make the decision of whether or not to go to graduate school for further studies. While there, one of her professors suggested that she intern on his upcoming film shadowing the Script Supervisor. It was one of the best decisions of her life.

“When I was growing up, there was no such thing as a ‘film industry’ in Oklahoma. Now, I can go from working in Oklahoma one month, Texas the next, then out to L.A. after that. It is wonderful that I can do the work that I love and still be near family and friends.”

Three years later, Reed is now a fulltime Script Supervisor and proud union member. In her free time, she writes screenplays, which she hopes to produce in the future. Reed will spend the month of March in Los Angeles working on a feature. She also posts photos of her travels and all the creatures & people in her life on her Instagram.
